Telehealth Laws, Regulations & Policies
Telehealth as a care delivery model continues to rapidly grow in the U.S., helping physicians to reach patients in geographically remote areas or for reasons of safety and convenience. With this growth, telehealth law has attempted to keep pace. These regulations can be complex and vary state to state, in addition to telehealth policies at the federal level. Many of these laws focus on where the patient and the physician are located, which can affect access to care. The American Medical Association works to influence telemedicine law in favor of physicians. Learn more about the AMA’s efforts here.
